On July 16, subscribers of mobile operators PJSC Mobile TeleSystems (MTS), PJSC VimpelCom (Beeline) and PJSC MegaFon in the Far East experienced network outages during the day. "The operators reported that the problems had been resolved," the Amur News Service reported, citing the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications of the Amur Region.

The Ministry of Digital russia whatsapp resourceDevelopment, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation (Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media) reported that MTS had an accident on the transport network due to a break in the optical cable. This resulted in the absence of data transmission from 19:00 to 20:00 local time (13:00-14:00 Moscow time). Voice communication partially functioned via satellite backup.

Based on the time zone +6 relative to Moscow, residents of three regions of the Russian Federation could experience inconvenience due to communication problems: the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) (western and central regions), the Trans-Baikal Territory and the Amur Region.

"Beeline had an accident on the main power supply channel, which coincided with scheduled work on the backup channel provided by PJSC Rostelecom. MegaFon had a failure with a power outage at one of the operator's facilities. Despite the failure, MegaFon provided communication services in the normal mode," the Ministry of Digital Development said in a statement.

From the scene

A RIA Novosti correspondent reported that on Tuesday evening in Blagoveshchensk there were massive failures in the MTS network: messengers worked slowly, and it was occasionally impossible to make calls. The line "Emergency calls only" appeared on smartphone screens. In Primorye, problems with mobile Internet were noted for Beeline for an hour and a half, and for MTS all evening. At the same time, MegaFon worked stably.

"MTS and MegaFon users in the Magadan Region have been reporting internet connection failures en masse. MTS subscribers in Yakutia have also had difficulties. As reported by the regional Ministry of Innovations, the problems are related to "breaks in the main and backup communication channels," RIA Novosti said in a statement.
