Travis Kalanick could take a (temporary) "vacation" from running Uber

Post by pappu636 »

2017 has definitely been an annus horribilis for Uber . And Travis Kalanick , CEO and founder of the famous American startup, could soon stop being the most visible face of the transport app.

According to The Wall Street Journal , Uber's general meeting, which met yesterday in Los Angeles, is said to have discussed the possibility of granting a leave of absence to the company's CEO , who has been in the eye of the storm in recent months due to alleged sexist and discriminatory practices.

Uber and Kalanick have been in the news lately. The startup's aggressive corporate culture has been under scrutiny for some time, and the company is also facing a sexual harassment complaint from a former employee that has already resulted in the dismissal of 20 employees.

To make matters worse, Waymo , a subsidiary of Google, accuses Uber benin phone number of stealing technology for the development of self-driving cars. Meanwhile, Anthony Levandowski, the head of Uber's self-driving cars (previously linked to Google), has already been fired.

Kalanick , for his part, starred in a video a few months ago in which he argued heatedly with one of his own company's drivers. After the video was published, the Uber CEO promised to act in a more adult manner in the future and to look for a number two to accompany him in the management of the American startup.

Kalanick has also recently been the victim of a serious personal tragedy . His mother died a few weeks ago in a boating accident and his father was also seriously injured.

In addition to Kalanick, Uber's board of directors includes Garrett Kamp (the startup's second co-founder), Ryan Graves (former CEO of Uber), businesswoman Arianna Huffington, investor Bill Gurley, billionaire David Bonderman and a representative of a Saudi investment firm.
