The biggest difficulty in digital transformation is not technology, but people," Ó. Fuente, IEBS

Post by pappu636 »

In a hyperconnected world like today's, it seems obvious that one cannot live outside of technology and digital.

At this point, it is mandatory for any company to initiate transformation processes to adapt to the new reality of the market in which they must continue to compete.

Only those who commit to the so-called digital transformation will be able to meet consumer demand and enjoy an advantage over their rivals.

However, this is not a simple process, as it is a transformation that affects each and every area of a company.

To find out the best way to adapt to the digital world and its constant evolution, we interviewed Óscar Fuente, General Director of IEBS , co-director of CEMS and the Postgraduate Course in Digital Marketing and Community Management, who also explains the importance of training in this task.

1. What are the key factors that companies must take into account when carrying out a successful digital transformation?

There is good news and bad news. The good news is that today there is still australia phone number time to digitalize and the bad news is that tomorrow it may be too late and it will be more complicated than if they started today. So there is no time to lose because those who do not face this challenge as soon as possible will face great difficulties.

At this point, the most important part in a traditional organization is the change of culture, so it is essential to involve everyone and provide employees with tools and plenty of training.

With good training, we help our team get out of their comfort zone, minimizing the impact of changes that involve digitally transforming a company in terms of culture, processes and organization.

If we do not do it this way we may find ourselves facing rejection and frustration in the organization, turning a necessary process into something very traumatic.

2. Where do the greatest difficulties or obstacles lie for companies in their adaptation to the digital environment?

The biggest difficulty is not technology, but people and our natural resistance to change and to leaving our comfort zone. That is why I emphasize that such a radical cultural and organizational change must be accompanied by the commitment of the entire organization and the provision of tools and training.

At IEBS we are helping large organizations train their employees through corporate Mooc courses on 2.0 tools, productivity and organization, digital transformation, etc.

3. The emergence of Big Data is a reality, but there is still a lot of confusion in the sector about what is the right direction to take. Where is the secret to turning data into a competitive advantage?

In the future of Big Data, whoever has the data will have the power. So start thinking about how to secure your company and save as much data as you can, even if you don't know why.

Companies like Google have opted for Machine Learning as a strategic bet. So has IEBS. Artificial intelligence and machine learning allow us to create algorithms based on massive data that automate processes and decisions more effectively and safely than a human.

But these models work better the more data you have; it is no longer the quality of the data that matters, but rather having all the data and not just a sample.

At IEBS, to give an explanatory example, we use big data by applying climate-based models to find correlations between student performance and the weather in the city in which they live in order to adapt the teaching schedule or the order of the topics based on their difficulty.

We also analyze student patterns to predict incidents and anticipate them or choose audiences based on data models and our clients' behavior.
