The arrival of new technologies that are more affordable both economically and in terms of infrastructure has contributed to the incorporation of new and powerful tools into all companies, not just the large ones.
This is why in recent years we have witnessed a great leap forward in terms of innovation and digitalisation in the Spanish business framework.
However, there is still a long way to go until the full integration of technologies such as cloud computing , which opens up enormous opportunities for companies to improve their processes and results.
In fact, despite the fact that 37% of companies still do not have a cloud plan, cloud spending is expected to grow by 22% through 2020.
To learn about the advantages of this technology, as well as the challenges it must face, we interviewed José Acebrón, Key Account Manager at Panda Security and Professor of the Advanced Technology Program in Virtualization and Cloud at ICEMD.
1. What is your go-to marketing book?

2. What is your favorite app?
Depending on the time of day and the circumstances, I use one or the other. Linkedin is very complete compared to the web version. Others help you and even get you out of a tight spot, like Car2Go or Here.
For leisure, one of the apps I've been using for the longest time when I'm doing some sport is Endomondo. I like being able to see how I've changed for better or worse during training and you get practical information. If someone is studying Chinese, Pleco is very good with the OCR-dictionary, it's really useful.
3. What trend do you see most clearly in the digital universe?
Artificial Intelligence has great potential for impact. In the short term, I think that big data will still give us a lot to do (especially with the rise of IoT) and the disruption of blockchain technologies will provide more and more use cases to make viable projects that are currently very complex.
But certainly in the medium to long term, I see the cogno- and intelli-trend. The progressive incorporation of cognitive tools and artificial intelligence into a host of everyday tasks. This will produce an even greater acceleration of digitalisation and the even greater importance of digital, of how we interact with customers, with markets, with shareholders, etc.
4. What are the main benefits and advantages of cloud computing for companies?
The main advantages of Cloud Computing are:
– Be business-oriented. The cloud allows organizations to abstract and greatly simplify IT management, thereby focusing the organization’s technical resources on what adds value: developing applications, selecting technologies, etc., and not having to maintain servers, expand storage, etc.
– Democratization of Technology: the cloud puts the best and most cutting-edge technologies at our fingertips without the need for large investments. Any freelancer or SME can use the cloud and start doing Big Data or Artificial Intelligence projects with tools that are at the same level as those available to large organizations. This is one of the reasons why so many success stories of digital disruptors have appeared. This is something that was unthinkable before the cloud.
