A few years ago, Google was the first and inevitable stop for consumers on their journey towards e-commerce. Every online purchase invariably started with the Mountain View company’s search engine. However, the once all-powerful Google search engine is being dangerously overshadowed by Amazon . According to the “Amazon Shopper Report 2022” by Remazing and Appinio , 68% of Spaniards admit to starting their product search on the Internet with Amazon (before Google or any other search engine).
To carry out their study, Ramazing and Appinio interviewed 1,000 consumers aged 16 to 65 in six different countries: Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, the United States and Spain.
The research confirms what is already an open secret: Amazon's egypt number data absolutely dominant role in consumer purchasing habits . The majority of Spanish consumers (90%) admit to having placed an order on Amazon at some point. And not only that. 86% of Spanish Amazon customers use the Prime subscription service.
Amazon has become an absolute must for many Spaniards and 64% admit to buying almost everything from the famous marketplace.
Along the same lines, only a very small percentage of Spanish consumers (13%) can easily imagine giving up Amazon for a whole year.
The secret to the passionate love affair between Amazon and Spanish consumers seems to lie in the e-commerce company's fast delivery and vast product catalogue . 77% of Spanish Amazon users particularly value short delivery times, while 58% value the wide variety of products as the most important factor when purchasing on the platform. Low prices rank third among the most important reasons for ordering on Amazon.
It is also worth noting that, although Amazon is often in the spotlight in the media for tax evasion or not offering its employees the best working conditions , 97% of Spaniards have a positive image of Amazon. Those who are most critical of Amazon are young people between 16 and 24 years old and consumers between 55 and 65 years old.
Internationally, Italians have an even more positive image of Amazon, with 98% rating the platform “quite positively” or “very positively”, while Germans are more suspicious, with the percentage of positive ratings falling to 91%.
