The core WordPress function wp_hash_password uses the phpass password hashing engine and eight-pass MD5-based hashing. The best security starts with the basics. Google has some great tips for choosing a strong password. Or you can use an online tool like the Strong Password Generator. You can learn more about how to change your WordPress password here. It’s also important to use different passwords for each site. The best way to do this is to store them locally in an encrypted database on your computer. A good free tool for this is KeePass. If you don’t want to go that route, there are also online password managers like 1Password or gambling data russia LastPass. Even though your data is stored securely in the “cloud,” it’s generally more secure because you’re not using the same password across multiple sites. It also saves you from having to use sticky notes. As for installing WordPress, you should never use the default “admin” username. Create a unique WordPress username for the admin account and delete the “admin” user if it exists. You can do this by adding a new user in the “Users” section of the dashboard and assigning it the “Administrator” profile (as shown below).

Once you've assigned the new account to the admin role, you can go back and delete the original "Admin" user. Make sure that when you click the "Delete" button, you select the "Attributes all content" option and select the new admin profile. This will assign them the author of these posts.

You can also rename the current admin username manually in phpMyAdmin using the following command. Make sure to back up your database before editing tables.
