PA 46
PA 46 offers exceptional thermal stability and mechanical strength, making it suitable for high performance technical applications.
Polyamide 6 (PA 6) and Polyamide 66 (PA 66)
Processing conditions
Drying: It is essential to reduce the humidity level below 0.2%.
Injection molding: Melting temperatures of 240-270°C for PA 6 and 270-300°C for PA 66.
Extrusion : Requires very viscous grades, with processing temperatures of 240-270°C for PA 6 and 270-290°C for PA 66.
Classification of polyamides
Polyamides can be classified according to their molecular structure and hong kong data crystallinity. The main types of polyamides are as follows:
Aliphatic polyamides: Flexible and strong, but with poor resistance to chemicals and heat.
Semi-aromatic polyamides: Improvement of mechanical properties and thermal performances.
Aromatic polyamides (aramids): High thermal stability and chemical resistance, but rigid and brittle.
Choosing the right polyamide
The choice of the appropriate polyamide depends on the application requirements. The table below summarizes the main properties of the different types of polyamide:
Property Aliphatic polyamides Semi-aromatic polyamides Aromatic polyamides (Aramids)
The force Good Improved Exceptionally high
Rigidity Moderate High Very high
Solidity Very good Good Weak (fragile) without modification
Heat and fire resistance Up to 150°C Up to 200°C Up to 500°C
Resistance to chemicals and solvents Moderate High High, except for some solvents
Weather resistance Very good Moderate; less UV stable Low ability to cope with bad weather
Water absorption Quite high Weak Very weak
Cost Weak Moderate High
Processing capacity Excellent Good Difficult
Polyamide modifiers
Polyamide modifiers are essential to tailor the properties of PA plastic materials to the requirements of specific a
