However, in December 2008, a law was enacted to amend part of the "Act on the Proper Transmission of Specified Electronic Mail," and the sending of advertising and promotional emails was changed from the "opt-out method" to the "opt-in method," and methods that better respect the user's choices and actions have become mainstream.
