The Eclipse Dataspace Working Group

The mission of the Eclipse Dataspace Working Group is to provide a forum for individuals and organizations to create and promote the collaboration models needed to build scalable, industry-ready components based on open source software, specifications, and open standards for dataspaces. Founding members of the working group include a diverse range of organizations from the public and private sectors, including Amadeus, Fraunhofer, IDSA, iShare, Microsoft, and T-Systems.
Will focus on participating in standards development, implementation, and onboarding of existing open source projects and will focus on leading associated projects that align with the overall goal of supporting a broad ecosystem of interoperable dataspaces.

To this end, the working group aims to promote a component-based model that supports uk rcs data the collection of projects in three distinct groups:

Dataspace Core and Protocols (DCP): DCP focuses on core protocol specifications and their standardization. It also provides alignment between protocol specifications and OSS designs that implement mandatory data space functionality.

Dataspace Data Planes and Components (DDPC): DDPC focuses on alignment between projects that implement the data plane, which is the essential component of a data space, as well as additional optional components that enable advanced data space views. This includes projects that are not essential to creating a viable data space but add functionality that enhances the business value of the data space.

Dataspace Authority and Management (DAM): DAM focuses on aligning tools and workflows to enable the implementation of data spaces. Its associated projects will help dataspace authorities manage their dataspaces. These include policy management, member management, and starter kits for dataspace authorities.
