We have figured out what Google Trends is. But like any other working tool, it requires the right approach. Only then it becomes maximally effective. That is why we want to share with you some tips on how to use Google Trends maximally effectively.
Tip 1: Study long-term data to develop a content marketing strategy
In some areas, it is not enough to track the popularity dynamics of a particular query over just 12 months. It may not be representative and may give you an erroneous opinion about the relevance of a product or service at a certain time.
Let's look at the example of the request "buy Apple Watch" in the region azerbaijan email list of Ukraine. Look at the first screenshot.
To develop a content marketing strategy, study data over a long period of time
We see the largest peak of queries for the year in September and a slightly smaller one in June. But will the graph be similar in a year? To better predict this, we look at the graph not for the last 12 months, but for 5 years:
The biggest peak of queries in a year was in September
And here we see that the demand for Apple Watch is usually higher at the end of December — on the eve of the New Year holidays. Plus in September. But if we dig a little deeper, we will remember that it is in September that Apple often holds its presentations. And the increase in the number of requests may not be caused by the desire to buy a smartwatch, but simply to read about the new product.
