Market players believe that now is not the right time to exclude Russian products from the registry - it is better not to tighten the requirements for now and support developers, allowing them to improve products not in a stressful situation and not in critically short timeframes.
A representative of the Trukonf press service commented: "Unfortunately, the requirements for the "Communication Software" section were drawn up without interviewing key developers of videoconferencing solutions - our experts, for example, did not receive any requests to work on the initiative. A number of points chile cell phone number list in the NPA (regulatory legal act - ComNews note ) require the consolidation of opinions of Russian IT companies releasing products for corporate communications."
of Vinteo, the requirement to work with a Russian OS is necessary and can be implemented by most software developers. "But mandatory compatibility with processors should be postponed - there is an objective difficulty with domestic processors and the availability of extensive tools to support the developer. For example, server processors of Russian design, capable of competing with foreign ones in processing large amounts of video data, which is important for our software VKS solution, unfortunately, have not yet had time to fully enter the market due to the introduction of sanctions. I do not think that now is the right time to actively exclude Russian products from the registry - it is better not to tighten the requirements for now and support developers, allowing them to improve products not in a stressful situation and not in critically short terms," he says.
"As for possible investments in "tweaking" software to comply with the registry, this will depend on the situation of a specific developer. For our company, if the point on compatibility with processors becomes mandatory, then due to the specifics and technological complexity of the software, this could result in a year of more expensive development," added Dmitry Sery.
Deputy CEO of Postgres Professional, head of the Russian software integration committee of the ARPP "Domestic Software" Ivan Panchenko commented: "As for system software, the new requirements of the regulatory legal acts are quite soft and will not have any serious impact on the status of registry participants. The bulk of Russian system software already meets them. Developers of application software will have a much more difficult time. A significant portion of software is developed for Windows, for Intel processors. Of course, formally it can be made to work under Linux, for example, using the Wine emulator. In practice, such methods will not solve the problem, but will only work as a temporary "crutch": users will inevitably face huge problems. Windows has ruled the roost in Russia for decades, and Russian companies will need a significant amount of time to turn the tide and ensure compatibility of all products with Linux. As we predicted, those who were engaged in import substitution in advance will now be in a winning position."
