Ooyala , one of the largest premium video platforms on the market, has published its quarterly report: Global Video Index Q2 2017 . This study tells us about video consumption , especially on mobile devices .

Among all video content, the report reveals that long-form content (that which lasts more than 20 minutes) is the most viewed content on any type of screen.

Specifically, the device on which this type of video is played the most is on tablets (82%) . Compared to the previous quarter, viewing on this device has grown by 1%. In addition, this content represents 53% on mobile devices .

According to Ooyala, the choice of smartphones is due to the fact that in developed markets algeria phone number such as North America and Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), millennials turn to mobile devices as their first choice. In addition, these devices are increasing in emerging markets such as Latin America and Asia Pacific (APAC).

On this, Jim O'Neil, Principal Analyst and Strategic Media Consultant has expressed that: "Today's video consumers are looking to supplement or replace their traditional sources of video entertainment; driving the growth of original content that has been promoted on over-the-top services primarily among audiences who want content when, where and on the device they choose ."

Breaking down by world region, we can see that APAC is where most videos are played on mobile devices compared to computers (72%) . In EMEA, 57.7% of video consumption is done through smartphones.

Mobile views in Latin America were slightly lower (56%) . However, this represents an increase of 0.1% compared to the previous quarter.

Finally, in North America there is little difference between video consumption on computers and on mobile phones, with the latter device accounting for just over half of all views.
