How to delete personal data from search results

The issue of erasure of personal data was triggered by the ECJ judgment C-131/12, known as " Google Spain " between Google Inc. and Mario Costeja González from May 2014. The Court of Justice of the EU confirmed the right to "be forgotten" in its ruling, which fundamentally affected the position of search engines.

In principle, the search engine becomes a processor of personal data in its activities. The operator of the Internet search engine is then responsible for the processing of personal data, even if the information appears on websites published by third parties. Therefore, the search engine must take into account requests from individuals to remove links to freely accessible websites that appear when searching for their name.

What does this mean in practice?
Any individual can request the search engine operator to delete gcash database their data. Interestingly, on May 31, 2014, the first day of the service, Google received more than 12,000 requests from people to delete links about them from search results.

And the situation in the Czech Republic? According to information provided by Mária Staňková (Seznam's lawyer) at the Internet Advertising Conference 2015, Seznam.cz, as handles up to a hundred requests for deletion. Most of the time, negative entries are resolved regarding the problematic history of entrepreneurs or individuals, or the settlement of personal disputes.

Important conditions for deletion
Search engines must now individually assess each request for deletion received. What are the basic aspects they must assess?

Out-of-date data: If the information is up-to-date, the search engine will not delete it.
Public interest: If there is an overriding public interest in disclosing information, the search engine will not delete it.
