Android 14, Nothing OS and built-in apps

Post by Rina7RS »

The Nothing Phone 2a is pretty good in terms of camera compared to other similarly priced smartphones. Sure, the camera setup isn’t perfect, but you get good results in most lighting conditions. Video quality is also good, as long as you don’t zoom in or move around too much.

One of the things I like most about the Nothing Phone 2a is its software. This phone comes with a version of Android called Nothing OS based on Android 14. I tested it with Nothing OS 2.5.4 installed. This operating system leaves the stock Android interface pretty much intact. It only focuses on providing a special look with custom widgets that use the company’s matrix font and overall UI aesthetic. Take a look at the screenshot below to see what I mean.

Nothing OS also uses its own icon pack for the app taiwan telegram data drawer. While I generally like the look of it, the problem is that you are forced to install apps that don’t have their own icon, and then the aesthetic doesn’t look as good. Just look at the PCMark icon below and how it stands out unpleasantly from the rest. However, this may not be an issue if you don’t tend to install a lot of apps on your smartphone.

Aside from the traditional Google apps that come with Android like Gmail, Google, Google Maps, YouTube, there's no bloatware pre-installed. You only get four other apps created by Nothing.
