It does happen from time to time there have been several Marvel v DC comic book crossovers and video games, for example. But it’s not unusual for them to allow these crossovers to happen, let alone be based on the unpredictability even the creative team behind Fortnite doesn’t know what it’s going to do in 2021 and experience of such a broad IP.

This evolution cannot be overstated. If you “announce” your intention to launch a metaverse, it’s possible that third parties will never accept interoperability or crossover their IP. But Fortnite has become netherlands mobile database so popular and unique that most counterparties have no choice but to participate — in fact, they’re probably desperate to be included in the “game” — just like P&G can’t say “Uh, Facebook isn’t for us.” Fortnite is too valuable a platform.

Meanwhile, Epic brings far more than a plausible entry to its efforts to build the metaverse. In addition to operating Fortnite which is theoretically a side project, Epic Games also owns the second-largest independent game engine, Unreal. This means that thousands of games already run on its "stack" of tools and software to simplify things, making it easier to share assets, integrate experiences, and share user profiles. Over time, the complexity of Epic's game engine has become so important that it now powers a variety of traditional media experiences. Disney's The Mandalorian was shot and fully rendered in Unreal, with director Jon Favreau being able to literally input its digital sets to frame and position characters. If Disney chooses to do so, viewers are free to investigate much of it - most of the environments and assets already exist. Outside of film and television, Unreal is also increasingly being used for live events: Unreal powers Fox Sports' NASCAR sets, for example.
